The structure of my work is based on building an introspective view on Peru´s history, identity and territory, focusing on landscape and architectural elements in search of its meanings and symbolisms through the creation of images.

Being trained as an architect, I acquired an early interdisciplinary practice emphasizing my interest in the handling of space and light, starting a career as a self-taught photographer. Architecture and photography became complementary tools that allowed me to explore and express my visual language situating my practice in photography´s expanded fields, embracing diverse media into my image creations, primarily shooting film. Early projects disclose ephemeral and anonymous architectures that come alive in Peru´s deserts. Later works deal with the idea of territory, its representations and transformations as well as men´s relationship with his environment. Recent ongoing projects propose the interaction of the viewer with the object – breaking the traditional solemnity of the work of art.

While architecture trained me to reason, photography taught me to question myself; to realize that nothing is what it seems. Doubt is the only way forward.
